Abstract

915,884. Video recording; tape pressure members. AMPEX CORPORATION. June 8, 1961 [Aug. 22, 1960] No. 20828/61. Class 40 (2). An assembly 21, holding a tape 2 in operative position against a pair of transverse-tracking head drums 47 is movable repeatedly in and out of position by a parallelogram linkage comprising bladesprings 25, repeatable engagement being provided by abutments 4 which may be set by handadjusted means 62, 63, 67 and the position controlled by means 12, 16. Where servo means derived from a pre-recorded transverse track are to be used to control the position of the assembly 21, as in Specification 883,637, the member 16 may drive a potentiometer forming part of the servo network. A groove 23 smooths the initial engagement of the heads and the assembly 21 may include heater means to maintain a constant tape temperature at the heads.
