Abstract
The invention comprises diacid esters of bis b -hydroxyethyl sulphone with polybasic inorganic acids and salts of these di-acid esters. They are prepared by reacting the bishydroxy sulphone with an appropriate acylating agent and neutralising the product if salts are desired. Examples describe the preparation of the di-acid sulphate using oleum or chlorsulphonic acid and the di-acid phosphate using P2O5 as acylating agent. Sodium, barium and potassium salts of the esters are mentioned. The compounds may be used as divinyl sulphone release agents in the treatment of cellulosic and proteinaceous materials as described in Specification 915,572.
