A fireplace surround comprises a frame 20, 21 secured to the wall by lugs 22 and removable panels 40 sliding in channels 21a, 31a formed on the vertical frame members 21 and on supporting uprights 31 secured to the wall and spaced from the sides 21 of the frame. Lugs 43 support top members 42. A tiled hearth may be formed in three separate sections 50, 51, 52.
