Abstract
913,338. Assembling electrical components to circuit boards. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. June 27, 1961, No. 23230/61. Class 83 (2). A method of mounting small components on to an insulated circuit plate comprises forming a pattern of the fixing points of the components in a pattern plate and moving a feeler so that one end follows the pattern and the other indicates the position of the components on the circuit plate. A pattern plate 5 is provided with holes 1 to 19 corresponding to the fixing positions of the components 4 on a circuit plate 1. A feeler 6 guided in a slide 9 arranged on a fixed arm 10 is provided at one end with a probe 7 and at the other with an optical system 8 rotatable about its longitudinal axis. The feeler is positioned over the plate 5 which is arranged in the same plane as the circuit plate 1 so that the probe 7 senses the holes 1 to 19 in succession whilst at each position the optical system 8 reflects a positioning image on the plate 1. The image may take the form of an arrow whose end and point identify the securing points of the respective component. In a modification the feeler may be constructed as an impulse transmitter, the probe of which when used in conjunction with contacts 23 operates a rotary switch to complete various circuits and indicate the electrical value of the component to be assembled.
