[Also in Group XVIII] An amusement apparatus wherein coins C are returned to a player upon a " win " being registered comprises a disc 2, Fig. 1, rotatable about a horizontal axis in a surround 30 which closes its circumferential edge, a plurality of radial channels 3 disposed in the disc having their mouths opening through the edge of the disc and their inner ends closed, a coin slot 5 disposed above the disc with means 6, 7 for directing a coin at random either edgewise into a channel or into a coin-retaining box 9, and means 25 to discharge a channel 3 to a pay-out shoot 26 when that channel has been filled with coins. Coins inserted in the slot 5 strike a spinner 6 and, after bouncing against pins 7, are deflected either into the open mouths of the channels 3 or through ways 8 to the box 9. The disc 2, together with a further disc 17, Fig. 3, is mounted on a shaft 18 which is driven from a motor arranged also to drive the spinner 6. Rods 13 which are disposed between the disc 2 and the disc 17 for rocking movement in holes in an intermediate disc 13b are each arranged to co-operate at one end -with a pusher rod 14 slidable radially into the inner closed end of a channel 3 and at the other end with the arms 19, 20, Fig. 4, of switches 21, 22. In the operation of the machine, when any of the channels becomes filled with coins, the pusher rod 14 in this channel blocks the movement of the associated rod 13 so that the opposite end of the latter, as it rotates, successively actuates the arms 19, 20 to close the switches 21, 22. The switch 21 serves to light up a " win " indicator 23 and the switch 22 actuates a spring-loaded shutter 25 to release the coins in the full channel when the latter reaches the six o'clock position. The shutter consists of a hinged plate which is operated by a solenoid 24 when the switch 22 is closed. To ensure that the shutter remains open long enough to allow discharge of the coins into the pay-out shoot below, a bracket 27, Fig. 3, is fitted to the disc 2 adjacent each channel to receive a pivoted catch 28 carried by a bracket 29 mounted on the shutter. In the case of channels 3 not full of coins, the corresponding pusher rod 14 can be moved freely by the rod 13 as contacted by the spring-loaded arm 19 during the rotation of the disc. A transparent window 10 is provided at the outer end of each channel so that the last coin to enter and register a " win " will blank out an illuminated number or picture.
