Abstract

912,628. Resiliently mounted seats. FRITZMEIER, G. Sept. 29, 1960 [Sept. 30, 1959], No. 33504/60. Class 52 (1). A tractor &c. seat is resiliently supported on a medially positioned arm 15 the ends of which are pivoted at 14, 16 to U-section plates 4, 17 secured to the vehicle and to the seat frame 2, respectively, the seat being guidably mounted on a medial strut 7 for rectilinear movement between an upper rearward position and a lower forward position. The back frame 3 is integral with the seat frame 2 and has a central rearward extension 9 secured by a nut 10, with intervening rubber washers 11, to the strut member 7 which is displaceable on sliding bushes 8 in a strut member 6 secured to the plate 4 and containing an hydraulic shock absorber. The arms 15 engage between the sides of the plates 4 and 17 to prevent slewing of the seat on the strut. A pneumatic bellows 18 filled with air under pressure through a valve 19 is interposed between the plate 17 and the arm. In modifications, the bellows is between the arm and a part of the vehicle or is replaced by torsion springs extending from the arm to the plate 4 and about the pivot pin 14. A further spring element may be embodied in the strut and the arm may be replaced by a trapezoidal leaf spring secured to the plate 4 and linked to the forward end of the seat frame.
