Abstract
The apparatus comprises altimetric means (8);inertial navigation means (9);a Kalman filter or the like (10) delivering at least an altitude error value, a vertical speed error valueand a measurement signal;first calculating means (14) delivering an altitude datumand a vertical speed datum;means (11) for analysing the said measurement signaland extracting from the latter the characteristics of the surface (3) of the sea;second calculating means (12) calculating a flying altitude level ZCOA for the said flying machine (1);means (15) for vertically guiding the said flying machine (1) receiving the said flying altitude level ZCOA and the said altitude datumand the vertical speed datumand delivering a vertical acceleration instructionfor the said flying machine (1); andmeans (20, 21, 6) for applying the said vertical acceleration instructionto the vertical flying controls (7) of the said flying machine (1).
