[Also in Groups VIII and XX] A material comprises outermost layers of a synthetic resin reinforced by a web of fibrous material and a photo-colloid material, and one or more intermediate layers of a mixture of the resin and the colloid, the photo-colloid material being defined as a colloid which as such or after treatment with a sensitizer changes its solubility on exposure to light. The material is especially suitable for the preparation of wrapround relief printing plates or can be used for flat plates. Drawings (not shown) illustrate production of the material by successively spraying a moving glass fabric with (a) resin such as a polyester solution, (b) liquid mixture for 75% resin and 25% colloid, (c) for 50% resin and 50% colloid, (d) for 25% resin and 75% colloid and (e) for colloid solution alone which may be gelatin for subsequent dichromate sensitization. The use of epoxy and furane resins also is referred to. Gelatin may be brought into solution by use of papain.
