An internal combustion engine piston, provided in its wall with longitudinally and circumferentially extending slits forming a T, has, substantially at the height of the circumferential slit 6, at least one circumferential rib 3 which extends from one of the piston pin hubs 2 towards the longitudinal slit 5 and terminates at or in the vicinity thereof. The rib 3 has a thickness tapering from a maximum at the piston pin hub 2 to a minimum at the slit 5.
