Abstract
907,977. Stereotaxic apparatus. BLUM, B., and FELDMAN, B. Feb. 7, 1961 [Feb. 8, 1960], No. 4582/61. Class 81 (2). A stereotaxic manipulator for use on cats has two clamping members specially shaped to engage the lateral protrusions on the base bone of the skull. A semicircular frame 1 carries aligned guides 7 within which the clamping members 2 are slidable. They are held in position by screws 6. The acid-point of the frame 1 has a further clamping attachment 9 providing a screw 8 for engaging the occipital protuberance 11 and opposed screws 14 for engaging on opposite sides of the occipital ridge 12. The reduced ends of the members 2 have inclined faces 26, 28, 29, Fig. 7, and a recess 27 for receiving the lateral protrusion. An outer semicircular frame 22, Fig. 1, around which a slide 23<SP>1</SP> carrying a probe 24 is movable, is mounted on the clamping frame at each side by a pivot screw 21, a slide 18, adjustable along a block 17 by a screw 23<SP>1</SP> and a slidable rod 15 which is clamped by a screw 16. The combination of movements thereby permitted enables any part of the brain to be reached.
