[Also in Group XX] In order to increase the sensitivity of a mirror galvanometer or like instrument, a light beam reflected by the movable mirror 2a is reflected back thereto by a fixed mirror 7 before it is finally deflected on to a ground glass scale 3. So that this scale may be linear, the mirror 2a is, as shown, made concave. Alternatively, mirror 7 or both mirrors may be concave.
