A method of manufacturing crayons comprises inserting a multi-fly paper tube 1 into a crayon mould, not shown, pouring molten crayon material into the tube allowing the crayon material to harden and ejecting the complete crayon encased in the tube 1. The crayon may be keyed to the tube by indenting the tube, by turning over one end 2 of the tube, or by forming a protuberance 3, Fig. 3 (not shown). In another embodiment, the paper tube may form the mould with the addition of a small mould for shaping the crayon point.
