Abstract

907,012. Ultrasonic wave couplings. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. Nov. 29, 1960 [Dec. 11, 1959], No. 42308/59. Class 40 (4). [Also in Group XL (c)] To avoid interference with the passage of ultrasonic waves between a water-coupled probe 4 and magnesium alloy test piece 3, due to gas bubbles on the surface of the test piece by chemical interaction, water is pumped to adjustable nozzle 5. The probe and nozzle are suspended from carriage 7 by rod 11 which slides in hole 12 and is releasably secured by screw 13. The preferred angle of nozzle inclination to the surface of the test piece is 75 degrees, Fig. 2 (not shown).
