Abstract

906,935. Transferring designs. LETRASET Ltd. Jan. 28, 1959 [Jan. 28, 1958], No. 2807/58. Class 100 (2). A device for facilitating the production of designs assembled from a primary carrier sheet on to a secondary carrier sheet, e.g. as in the transferring methods described in Specifications 809,138 and 906,934, comprises a supporting frame which carries one of the carrier sheets in a position above the other carrier sheet and means for mounting the other carrier sheet, the supporting frame and the mounting means being relatively movable in two directions transverse to each other while maintaining the sheets parallel to each other at least at the adjacent parts of said sheets, and the frame being movable on a bridge-like support over the mounting means. A slider 10, Fig. 1, having end flanges 12, 13 is slidable in the direction of the arrow 2 on a bench 11 and has ribs 14, 15 which define a guideway for a board 16 having beads 17, 18 at its ends. The board 16 slides in the direction of the arrow 3. A bridge 20 is supported on the bench 11 by feet 21, 22 and a supporting frame 24 is slidable thereon in the direction of the arrow 2. The primary carrier sheet, which may carry rows of transfer letters, is secured to the upper surface of the board 16 and the secondary carrier sheet, which may be a sheet of paper upon which letters are assembled to form words, is secured by adhesive strips to the bottom of the frame 24. The frame 24 is moved to achieve approximate positioning of the secondary sheet over the primary sheet and then the board 16 and slider 10 are moved to position the primary sheet in various positions successively to select required letters which can be transferred to the primary sheet by pressure or otherwise. In another embodiment, Fig. 6, the primary sheet is fastened to the periphery of a drum 31 rotatable on an axle 32 in a frame 30. A frame 28 is slidable in a direction parallel to the axle 32 on a slideway 29 mounted on the frame 30 above the drum 31 and supports the secondary carrier sheet.
