Abstract

A moistening device for printing machines is similar to that disclosed in the parent Specification, but has annular arrays 20a of tufts 20b which are angularly offset from one array to another. The tufts 20b in each array are disposed so that they are progressively offset on either side of the plane perpendicular to the axis of the brush extending through the centre of each notch <PICT:0905170/III/1> 31 in a deflector member 21 adjustably mounted on a shaft 40. During rotation of the brush, the bristles are deflected in the manner shown in Figs. 5 to 7 (not shown), thereby improving moistening uniformity.
