Casting apparatus comprises two-part moulds M<SP>1</SP>, M<SP>2</SP> mounted on slides 11 inclined to the horizontal on a rotating, conical table 10. The moulds are opened and closed by pistons 21, and the inclination of the junction face of the mould part 1 to the vertical provides for stability of the core 7 before the mould is closed.
