An aerial whose elements are arranged on a support tube and have freely suspended ends is characterized in that the two halves of at least one element have different characteristics of mechanical vibration. In the embodiment described, a boom 1 carries a folded dipole 2 and parasitic elements 3, 4. These elements are hollow, and one half of each element is filled with, for example, metal, wood, or sand. The difference in vibration characteristics may be produced by engaging the half elements with externally mounted means.
