A shoe form retaining device comprises an elongated member of substantially T crosssection folded from a cardboard, thin metal, thermoplastic or like material blank. The device abuts against the upper at the heel 3a and toe 3b ends. The stem 5 of the T decreases in height from the heel to the toe end whilst the width of the cross-bar 3 of the T increases said bar may be provided with advertizing data &c. The ends of the device are preferably rounded.
