Abstract

A method of testing an optical transmission link comprising the steps of transmitting a first optical communications signal from one end B of the link along an optical fibre to the other end A of the link, returning a predetermined part of said first optical signal using wavelength independent means NTU to said one end of the link and to a first receiver thereat and monitoring the returned signal received at the first receiver. <IMAGE>
