902,466. Photo - electric spectrometers. DEUTSCHE AKADEMIE DER WISSENSCHAFTEN ZU BERLIN. Aug. 12, 1959 [Nov. 24, 1958], No. 27624/59. Class 40 (3). A spectrometer comprises a photo-cell illuminated by an analysis line and arranged to charge a condenser, the voltage on which is indicated by an electrostatic electrometer. The condenser may be the capacitance of the electrometer. The circuit comprising a D.C. source Qo, resistance Wo and a photocell Po exposed to the light source provides, through an amplifier V, a voltage Q varying with the light source intensity. Voltage Q charges electrometers E<SP>1</SP>, Ex through photo-cells P<SP>1</SP>, Px, which are illuminated by an internal standard and the analysis line respectively. Electrometer E<SP>1</SP> has a light-spot indicator and energizes a photo-cell at a given deflection to terminate the charging of electrometer Ex which then indicates the intensity of the analysis line referred to the internal standard. In modifications, the internal standard is omitted, the photo-cell Po views a single line and condensers may be connected in parallel with the electrometers. The circuit Po, Wo, V may be replaced by a constant voltage source and the photocells may be photo-multipliers.
