Abstract
902,326. Radio direction finding. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON-HOUSTON. Nov. 20, 1958 [Nov. 20, 1957], No. 37375/58. Class 40 (7). In a monopulse radar system received information is processed to derive amplitude sum and difference signals which, after passing through a coupler, are compared in phase to determine the azimuth and elevation of the target. In the embodiment described, which for simplicity is illustrated as apparatus for determining either azimuth or elevation, signals received on aerials 1, 2 pass through a magic T, 3, which gives sum and difference signals in channels S and D, respectively. These pass through a 3 db coupler 12 and thence to limiter amplifiers 13, 14 and discriminator 16, a phase-shifter 15 being interposed in one of the channels. A local oscillator 4 is provided.
