Abstract

A non-liquid carrier for topical application, in particular a soap, contains as a deodorizing agent a water-soluble chelate complex of a b -diketone and copper, magnesium, calcium, zinc, cadmium, aluminium, zirconium, antimony or cobalt, the b -diketone of said complex containing on its carbon atom bridging the keto groups at least one hydrogen atom. Specified soap tablets contain curd soap, ethyl alcohol and copper 3-acetyl-2,4-pentanedionate or antimony acetyl acetonate.ALSO:Copper acetyl acetonate, copper 5-phenyl-2,4-pentanedionate, zirconium 2,4-heptanedionate, calcium 2,4-heptanedionate, cadmium 2,4-hexanedionate, magnesium acetyl acetonate, aluminium acetyl acetonate, copper 3-chloro-2,4-pentanedionate, copper p-aminobenzoyl acetonate, copper 3-acetoxy-2,4-pentanedionate, copper p-methylbenzoyl acetonate, calcium 2,4-octanedionate, zirconium benzoyl acetonate, cobalt 3-n-dodecyl-2,4-pentanedionate, copper 3-acetyl-2,4-pentanedionate, antimony acetyl acetonate, zirconium 2 - methyl-4,6-heptanedionate, copper 2,2-dimethyl-3,5-hexanedionate and copper 2-methyl-3,5-heptanedionate are prepared by reacting a salt of the metal with the corresponding b -diketone.ALSO:Textile materials in particular dress preservers and diapers contain as a deodorising agent a water-soluble chelate complex of a b -diketone and copper, magnesium, calcium, zinc, cadmium, aluminium, zirconium, antimony or cobalt, the b -diketone of said complex containing on its carbon atom bridging the beta groups at least one hydrogen atom. Specified active ingredients are aluminium acetylacetonate, copper 3-acetoxy-2,4,-pentanedionate or copper 2-methyl-3,5-heptanedionate.ALSO:A textile material or a non-liquid carrier material for topical application to human beings, contains as a deodorizing agent a water-soluble chelate complex of a b -diketone and copper, magnesium, calcium, zinc, cadmium, aluminium, zirconium, antimony or cobalt, the b -diketone of said complex containing on its carbon atom bridging the keto groups at least one hydrogen atom. The preferred b -diketones are those of formula <FORM:0901554/VI/1> where X is a hydrogen or halogen atom, an acyl, acyloxy, alkyl, aryl or aralkyl group and Y is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, aralkyl or aryl group. Specified active ingredients are zirconium acetyl acetonate, cobalt acetyl acetonate; copper 5-phenyl-2,4-pentanedionate, zirconium, 2,4-heptanedionate, cadmium 2,4-heptanedionate, calcium 2,4-octanedionate, cobalt 3-n-dodecyl-2,4-pentanedionate, copper 2,2-dimethyl-3,5-hexanedionate and many others. Specified materials are powders, soaps, pastes, creams, ointments, sweatsticks, vaginal tampons, cellulosic fibre fleeces, diapers, dress-preservers, sanitary napkins and insoles. The compositions for topical application contain as additives, adepslanae, beeswax, olive oil, perfume oils, silica gel, stearin, isopropyl palmitate, sorbitan monostearate, polyalkylene oxide, sorbitan monostearate, sorbitol, propylene glycol, talcum, starch, tragacanth and ethyl alcohol.
