Abstract

A powder mixture for use with an oxidizing gas in the lancing of heated refractories consists of (by weight) iron powder with up to 30% of aluminium powder, not more than 20% of the iron particles and less than 3% of the aluminium particles having a diameter smaller than 0.044 mm. A preferred relationship between the size distributions of the two powders is given.
