[Also in Group XVII] A means for forming a radiation-tight seal between a container and its cover comprises a conductive foil placed between the cover and the open end of the container over the whole cross-section of it, with a resilient layer interposed between the cover and the foil at least in the region of the contact line between the housing and the foil. The resilient layer may be a rubber plate and the foil may be of copper, brass or silver. In an alternative form, the layer may be of paper or synthetic material, with the foil formed on to one side of it.
