898,763. Slicing beet tails. RADINGER A. E., RADINGER, H. C., and PILGRAM, R. March 28, 1960 [June 9. 1959], No. 10811/60. Class 5(1). Sugar beet tails or fragments in a feed hopper 8 are fed by a rotating screw in a square-section feed duct 9 to knives 4 mounted, at an angle to the radius, on a disc 2 rotatable on a vertical axis 5 to produce slicing cuts. An aperture is formed in the duct 9 to enable foreign bodies to be removed; other apertures 12, 13 in the casing surrounding the disc serve respectively to facilitate removal of the knives and to permit the passage of a brush 14 for cleaning the disc.
