898,329. Photographic cameras. AGFA A.G. Oct. 1, 1958 [Oct. 4, 1957], No. 31354/58. Class 98(1). In a photographic camera, in which the setting of the diaphragm aperture and shutter speed adjusts a follower mechanism of an exposure meter, resilient means control a lost-motion connection in the transmission from the adjustment means to the follower mechanism. As shown, shaft 8 is connected to diaphragm aperture and shutter speed adjusting rings on the lens mount of a camera and is rotated when they are adjusted to alter the exposure value. The rotation is transmitted to lever 12 by spring 14 which is turned by pin 11 on lever 10, the bush 9 of which is rotationally fast with shaft 8. Pin 15 actuates rack 19 to turn pinion 20 and therewith edge cam 28. Sliding cam follower 29 may adjust the follower pointer of an exposure meter (not shown), bring the exposure meter pointer to an index mark on its scale, or rotate the whole galvanometer. A pivoted cam follower may alternatively replace sliding cam follower 29. When re-wind knob 23 is withdrawn to expose an index mark on sleeve 24, the transmission may be adjusted for different film sensitivities marked on disc 26. This is effected by lifting disc 26 against compression spring 30 and re-engaging pin 27 in the appropriate hole 25. Spring 14 allows lost-motion between levers 10 and 12 if a strain is accidentally placed on the transmission by mishandling the camera controls.
