Abstract

A dispenser for detergents comprises a porous cellular mass of foamed rubber or like resilient plastic material, preferably one which is resilient when wet such as polyester-di-isocyanate resin, containing detergent distributed through at least a part of the interior thereof, the cells or pores in that part of the dispenser not being entirely filled with the detergent. The detergent may be introduced into a polyester di-isocyanate sponge either by adding an aqueous detergent solution to the reaction mixture of polyester and di-isocyanate used to form the sponge, or by forming the sponge and then inserting the required amount of detergent powder into a pocket formed by slitting the sponge.
