Abstract

895,025. Jigging conveyers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Nov. 17, 1959 [Nov. 28, 1958], No. 38458/58. Class 78 (1). A jigging conveyer or screen comprises a carrying member for the material which is mounted on a vibratory undercarriage by (1) resilient means and (2) inextensible linkage means which constrain the carrying member to follow a predetermined path during vibration. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the material is carried by a tube 1 having angle pieces 6 secured to its underside which rest on rubber blocks 3 supported on angle pieces 5 mounted on the undercarriage 2. Parallel links 8 having collars 11 at their ends connect pins 9 secured to the pipe with rotatable pins 10 mounted on the undercarriage. Screw bolts 12 mounted in the upper collars engage grooves in the pins 9 and are adjusted to produce the desired initial compression of the blocks 3. The undercarriage is vibrated longitudinally by mechanical or electromagnetic means 14 and is supported by shock absorbers 201. The construction shown in Figs. 3 and 4 shows a trough conveyer 16 supported within an undercarriage 15 by rubber blocks 17 and links 18. Each link comprises a strap formed into loops 19 and 20 to pass round pins 27 on the trough by a bridge piece 21. The parts 21 are secured to lugs 22 on the undercarriage by bolts 23 and nuts 24, 25, 26 which are adjusted to produce the compression of the blocks 17. A screen frame 30 supported by an undercarriage 29 is shown in Figs. 5 and 6. The sides of the screen 43 rest on feet 42 formed on the side plates 41 of the frame 30. The screen is supported by tubular rods 44, 45 which at their ends are welded to angle pieces 46, 47. These angle pieces are welded to the plates 41. The middle points of the rods are connected by an angle piece 48. Transverse tension is imparted to the screen by plates 49 secured to the plates 41. Angle members 50, 51 extending between the plates 41 supported the armature 52 of an E.M. vibrator 40, the core and coil of which are supported by the side plates 31 of the undercarriage. The bottoms 32 of the plates 31 have angle pieces 33, 34 bolted to them which are welded to bars 35, 36 extending beneath the screen 43. Rubber blocks 58 are placed between the angle pieces 46, 47 and the bars 35, 36 and blocks 59 are placed between the angle pieces 33 and 46 and between the bar 36 and the angle piece 47. Looped straps 54 embrace pins 53 which are welded to the plates 41. The ends of the strap are secured to a block 55 which have grooves to locate the pointed ends of tension bolts 56, the setting of which effects the initial compression of rubber blocks 58, 59. These bolts are secured into lugs in the side plates 31. In Figs. 7 and 8, a screen frame 60 is supported by an undercarriage 61 through coiled springs 62 which are secured at one end to blocks 63 welded to the undercarriage and at the other end to brackets 64 welded to the frame 60. Parallel leaf springs 69, 70 bolted to the blocks 63 at one end are connected by a cross-bar 73 at the other end. A bolt 74 screwed through each bar 73 engages a groove in the bracket 65. This arrangement may be modified by replacing the springs 69, 70 by the strap arrangement shown in Figs. 5 and 6. In another arrangement spring rods replace the rubber blocks and angle irons or springs shown in the construction of Figs. 1-8. These rods extend across the width of the support member and are secured at their ends to the undercarriage and at intermediate points to the support member. Specification 874,635 is referred to.
