Abstract
894,985. Spring upholstery. NO-SAG SPRING CO. (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. (No-Sag Spring Co.). Nov. 4, 1959 [Dec. 16, 1958], No. 40514/58. Class 52(4) A vehicle seat spring unit has a frame 10 with cross members 11, 12 between which are supported sinuous spring stripe 13 each having a load bearing area 14 with a straight front portion 15, and a rear portion 16 made of loops 17, the front end of portion 15 being deflected at 18, 19, 21, 22, 23 so that portion 23 is in V-relationship to portion 21 and the end of the strip is anchored to member 11. A straight portion 24 prevents pivotal movement. The rear end of the strip is extended laterally and supported in an upstanding rubber block 32 secured between flange portions 33, 34 of rear frame member 12. Between springs 13 are supported wires 36 supported at the rear end in rubber blocks 32 and at the front in rubber blocks 32 mounted on a channel member attached to member 11, these wires aiding in supporting the load after some deflection of springs 13. A border wire 47 is secured along the front of springs 13 by bands 48 and to endmost springs 51. Jack springs 53, 54 are provided between the border wire and frame 10. In a modification spring strips 13 are replaced by straight strips.
