Abstract

894,965. Electric recording etc.; heads. DICK CO., A. B. Feb. 9, 1959 [Feb. 7, 1958], No. 4493/59. Class 40 (2). [Also in Group XL (a)] In an electrostatic writing-tube such as described in Specification 871,194, in which a plurality of separate writing points 32, Fig. 1, are exposed on the external surface of the glass end wall of the envelope adjacent a paper tape 34 passing around an external grounded conductor 36, each writing point is connected inside the tube to a common electrode 38 which extends outside the envelope so that a bias voltage may be applied to the writing points to maintain them at a voltage just below the writing potential and each writing point is connected to the common electrode through a leakage resistance of such value that a suitable voltage decay time is obtained, The writing points may be the end of high resistance wires or coatings 50, Fig. 5. on a semi-cylindrical insulator 46.
