Abstract

894,766. Pipe joints; junction pieces. CONTINUE-FLO HEATING PRODUCTS Ltd. Feb. 15, 1961 [June 22, 1960], No. 5597/61. Class 99(1). An adaptor 10 for connecting a takeoff duct to a trunk duct 16 has a sliding tongue - and - groove junction with the trunk duct and the junction includes a separate internal clip 34 slidably guided on the adaptor and movable into final position to seal off part of the junction. As shown, three sides of the adaptor throat section 14 are provided with outwardly and inwardly extending flanges 22, 26, 30 which co-operate to form channels, the outwardly facing channel slidably receiving the edges of the opening 18 in the trunk duct; the other edge of the adaptor has an inwardly facing flange 32 and a clip 34 of U-cross-section is slidable in the inwardly facing channel. In installing the adaptor, the flanges 30 are inserted through slits 20 of the opening 18 and the adaptor is moved along the duct with the edges of the opening received in the upper channels formed by flanges 26, 30. When the adaptor is in position, the clip 34 is moved along the lower channels to engage the flange 32 of the adaptor and the edge of the opening 18.
