Abstract
894,326. Transistor sawtooth generating circuits; cathode ray tube circuits. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. May 9, 1960 [May 7, 1959], No. 16373/60. Classes 40(6) and 40(7). The sawtooth current generated in aninductive load is maintained constant in amplitude despite changes in frequency by means of a series transistor arranged to pass a constant emitter-collector current. The Figure shows a blocking oscillator transistor T1 having a feedback transformer AT, an output coil 2, a monitoring resistor 32 and a by-pass capacitor 20. During the conducting phase the transistor passes a steadily increasing current through the output inductor until at a value determined by resistor R1 the transistor ceases to be saturated whereupon by regenerative action the transistor is switched off and then on again producing the flyback. Adjustment of R1 varies the frequency oscillation and accompanying variations of amplitude are prevented by connecting in series with the collector circuit of a transistor T2 arranged to pass a constant current. The magnitude of this current and thus the amplitude of the sawtooth output wave may be varied by means of resistor R2 or modulated by source 53.
