894,196. Double windows. DEUTSCHE TAFELGLAS AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT DETAG. Oct. 9, 1958, No. 32298/58. Class 20(3) [Also in Group VIII] Double or multiple pane light-transmitting panels comprise at least one pane of glass fibrereinforced unsaturated polyester, epoxy, or other thermosetting resin, and the panes have a reinforcing frame, or alternatively are directly joined at their edges, one pane being marginally cranked for this purpose. In Fig. 2 a pane 1 is cranked as at 4, 4 and welded or otherwise secured to a pane 2 at 5, 5. Alternatively or in addition a U-section clip or clips may be secured over the edges. In a modification two plane panes may be marginally secured together by an intermediate frame of foamed or other resin such as polyvinyl chloride, polyurethane, polystyrene or epoxy resin. One pane may have integral or attached reinforcing ribs of the above resins, or spacer ribs or studs of similar material may be provided between the panes. In Fig. 7 a pair of corrugated panes 8 are secured together by marginal and central spacing elements 9 the corners of which may be rounded as at 10, and which may receive screws as additional securing means. One of the panes may be coloured or frosted. In a further modification a pair of panes may be formed integrally by casting the resin around a core of wax or the like which is then melted out through a hole in one pane subsequently plugged.
