893,853. Making induction motor rotors; angular bending. LAWRENCE SCOTT & ELECTROMOTORS Ltd., and RAMSDEN, D. July 2, 1958, No. 21252/58. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). [Also in Group XXXV] The winding bars of an induction motor rotor are given a particular shape at the core ends by two forming operations. In the first a continuous length of bar is looped back on itself to provide two parallel limbs 4 by means of a pipebending machine, not shown, comprising a disc having two drums, one of which is coaxial with, and the other of which is angularly movable relatively to, the disc; the bar is passed between the drums and the disc is rotated by an hydraulically operated rack and pinion. Then the looped end 5 and the limbs 4 are placed in vices 7 ... 9 of a turn-forming machine, Fig. 11, whereupon the latter vices are pneumatically or hydraulically operated to displace the limbs 4 laterally with respect to the looped end 5.
