892,906.. Drying and damp-proofing walls. LICENCIA TALAMANYOKAT ERTEKESITO VALLALAT. May 9, 1960, No. 16347/60. Class 20(2) A building is dried and damp-proofed by neutralizing the negative potential of the brickwork relative to the ground by means of electrodes 5 in the wall connected by conductors 6, 7 to electrodes 8 in the soil, the electrical resistance of the wall 1 being equal to or greater than the resistance of the rest of the circuit thus formed. The electrodes 5 or 8 are embedded in coal dust to reduce their contact resistance with their surroundings. The electrodes 5 are fixed in position by lime mortar in which the coal dust is mixed. Bentonite may be mixed with the coal dust. In a modification a part of a wall may be protected by two sets of electrodes one on each side of this part connected to a cell or to earth. A cellar wall is provided with a set of electrodes at the top and at the bottom connected to a mesh of wires on the inside of the wall connected to electrodes in the soil.
