Abstract
The invention comprises isocyanatoaryl phosphorus compounds of formula <FORM:0891654/IV (b)/1> where X is oxygen or sulphur; n is 0, 1 or 2, A represents a radical obtained by removing two-active, hydrogen atoms from a di-hydroxy terminated polyester, polyether or alcohol; R is a substituted or unsubstituted O-aryl, O-aralkyl, O-alkaryl, O-cycloalkaryl, S-aryl, S-aralkyl, S-alkaryl, S-cycloalkaryl, N-(aryl)2, N-aryl-N-alkyl, N-(aralkyl)2, NH-aryl, N-(alkaryl)2, NH-aralkyl or N-(cycloalkaryl)2 radical; R1 and R11 may be the same or different and may represent the same groups as defined for R or may be substituted or unsubstituted O-alkyl, O-cycloalkyl, S-alkyl, S-cycloalkyl, N-(alkyl)2, N-(cycloalkyl)2, O-vinyl or O-cyclopentadienyl radicals; and at least one of the aromatic radicals contains at least one aromatically bound isocyanato group. Substituted "R" groups may contain halogen, alkoxy, carboxylic ester or unsaturated hydrocarbon radicals. The compounds are prepared by reacting the corresponding aminoaryl compounds or their hydrochlorides with phosgene to convert the amino groups into isocyanate groups, e.g. by mixing the amine and phosgene in the cold and heating the resulting carbamic acid chloride suspension at 80 DEG C.-120 DEG C. while introducing further phosgene.
