Abstract

891,292. Board games. TOOGOOD & JONES Ltd. March 10, 1960 [Dec. 11, 1958], No. 40045/58. Class 132(2) In a board game apparatus in which magnetic pieces are moved over a track 7 in accordance with the throw of dice and, at certain positions, actuate by magnetic attraction a switch beneath the track to give an audible or visual signal, the switches are mounted on a turntable 9 beneath the board so that by rotation of the turntable the positions of the switches can be altered. As shown each switch consists of a soft iron disc ,13 lying in a recess 12 in the turntable, two conductors 16, 17 spanning the recesses and being bridged by a disc 13 when it is lifted by the attraction of a superimposed playing piece. All the switches are connected in parallel and energize a lamp 23a supplied from battery 24. In a modification, a soft iron flap is pivoted on one wire 16, 17 and is moved up to contact the other to complete the circuit. In a further modification, each recess is spanned by three wires, a single flap pivoted to the centre one or one of two flaps pivoted one to each outer wire swinging up to complete one of two alternative circuits.
