Abstract

Gelatine is hardened by means of a polysaccharide comprising glucose units which have had some of their secondary alcohol groups oxidized to aldehyde groups. The oxidation products of carboxymethyl cellulose, methyl cellulose, cellulose sulphate, amylopectin and starch derivatives are referred to. Specification 654,631 and U.S.A. Specification 2,472,590 are referred to.
