890,824. Adjusting vehicle height; road vehicle draw gear. DE JOUETTE, A. Feb. 22, 1960 [March 16. 1959], No. 6116/60. Classes 103(5) and 108(2). An agricultural tractor comprises a motor unit 3, rear driving wheels 12, a steerable front wheel 1 mounted on an arm 2 pivoted on transverse axis 4 to the motor unit, a doubleacting hydraulic jack 5 pivoted near the front end of arm 2 having a piston rod 8 which passes through an aperture in a bracket 9 between which and an adjustable collar 11 on the rod is mounted a compression spring 10 which is compressible by the weight of the wheel 1 and arm 2, adjustment of jack 5 permitting all or part of the front wheel weight to be supported by the front part of the motor unit 3. The driving wheels 12 are each mounted on an arm 13 pivoted on transverse shaft 14 and supported at the front end by a hydraulic jack 16 the piston rod 18 of which passes through a bracket 20 mounted on the motor unit 3 and is surrounded by a suspension spring 19. The jacks 16 on either side are used to tilt the tractor for use on steep hillsides. Attached by universal joint 22 is a drawbar 23 passing through a slot 25 in guide 26, Fig. 2, which is pivoted to the tractor at 29. The guide may be retained in position by pin 30 engaging one of the holes 31 in a rack on the rear of the tractor to maintain a plough or other implement perpendicular to the earth when the vehicle is tilted for travel on sloping ground.
