Abstract

Pigmented polyethylene or polypropylene is stabilized with a nickel dithiocarbamate <FORM:0889680/IV (a)/1> in which R and R1 are alkyl, aryl and/or aralkyl groups. Thermal stabilizers also may be present and specified are octadecyl-salicylate, N-(p-hydroxyphenyl)-morpholine, tri-t-butyl-p-phenyl phenol, 4,41-thiobis-(6-t-butyl-m-cresol), 4,41-butylidene-(6-t-butyl-m-cresol), 2,21-methylenebis-(4-methyl-6-t-butyl phenol) and dialkyl thiodipropionates. In examples the pigments used are chlorophthalocyanine, titanium dioxide, copper phthalocyanine and an unspecified red pigment. Applications disclosed are film, filaments, bars, tubes and rods.
