887,494. Treating tobacco. QUESTER, W. May 12, 1958 [May 11, 1957], No. 15228/58. Class 130. Rib-stripping devices 2, 16 respectively of higher and lower pass characteristics are used in conjunction with pneumatic separators 4, 7 and 12. The separators 4, 7 pass pure leaf portions to a settling chamber 5 (or separate chambers) and rib portions with or without attached leaf to successive conveyers 6, 11. The separator 12 passes pure rib portions to an exit 13 and leaf portions with or without attached rib portions to a settling chamber 13<SP>1</SP> leading to the device 16 which again feeds the separator 7.
