Abstract

887,456. Catheters. KRIEIE, K. Oct. 27, 1960 [Nov. 4, 1959], No. 36934/60. Class 81 (2). An applicance for removing calculi from the urethra has a number of arms or rods 3 arranged around the end 1a of a flexible tube 1 and attached to a sac 4 in such a way that when the sac is inflated, through holes 7, the arms 3 are opened out so as to be able to surround the calculus. In the form shown, the bladder 4 is attached over the tube, and seals the end of the latter, and the arms are secured to the outer walls of the bladder. A removable or soluble cap 9 may be used to hold the arms closed during insertion. In a second form, a smaller tube, within the first, extends right through the bladder so as to be used for the introduction of lubricants or medicaments.
