Abstract

Cellular polyurethanes are prepared from a mixture containing an organic polyisocyanate, water, an organic compound having at least two reactive hydrogens, a molecular weight of at least 500, an OH equivalent of 100 to 3,000, and an acid number of not more than 10, and an organo-silicon fluid containing at least one amino group per molecule there being an excess of -NCO groups over that required to react with all of the reactive hydrogens of the organic compound. Lists of suitable components are given, the organic compounds including polyethers, polythioethers, polyacetate and polyesters, whilst the polyisocyanates include the addition product of a polyhydric alcohol and a polyisocyanate, the reaction product of a polyisocyanate and an acetal, and polymers of polyisocyanates. Accelerators, e.g. tertiary amines; emulsifiers; pore regulators, e.g. paraffin or silicone oils; fillers; dyes; plasticizers and metal catalyst may also be present. Specifications 769,680, 769,681, 769,682, 843,841 and 867,156 are referred to.ALSO:Cellular polyurethanes are prepared from a mixture containing an organic polyisocyanate, water, an organic compound having at least two reactive hydrogens, a molecular weight of at least 500, an OH equivalent of 100 to 3000, and an acid number of not more than 10, and an organo silicon fluid containing at least one amino group per molecule, there being an excess of -NCO groups over that required to react with all of the reactive hydrogens of the organic compound.
