Abstract
882,167. Vehicle dashboards. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Aug. 31, 1960 [Sept. 9, 1959], No. 29997/60. Class 79(4). A motor vehicle dashboard, shown in cross section, Fig. 2a, comprises a foundation member of metal which may have perforations, open meshes or lattice work, a covering 10x of flexible material, e.g. of leather, imitation leather or "plastic" material and a resilient foamed filling 10#. The dashboard, which is attached to the vehicle bulkhead at 10m, can collapse under impact of the human body and the insert 10i gives sufficient rigidity for the support of electric accessories. Electric wires 20w and electric plugs or a printed circuit, Fig. 4, may be included in the structure during manufacture for establishing connection with the electrical instruments. The dashboard may comprise foamed material portions 10F and 10#, Fig. 3, of different density.
