Abstract

881,365. Ingot moulds. OGLEBAY NORTON CO. May 5, 1960 [May 26, 1959], No. 15905/60. Class 83 (1). The refractory bottom ring 12 of a hot top has its lower and outer faces protected by a one-piece member 14 which is telescoped over and held in place on the bottom ring. The member may have an outwardly-flared portion 18 serving as a wiper strip and the bottom ring assembly is held in place by wire clips 14. The member may be made of separate pieces welded together, and comprises projections 19 which engage corresponding recesses on the bottom ring.
