Class 86 [Also in Group XL(b)] A magnetic stirrer comprises an elongated element 6 of magnetic material, sealed within a tube of glass or other inert material, and adapted to lie freely on the bottom of, e.g. a beaker 1, and a horseshoe magnet 7 which is rotated beneath the beaker by an electric motor 15, the speed of which is controlled by a rheostat 17 connected in series with the motor.
