Abstract

879,927. Skylights. WASCO CHEMICAL CO. Inc. Oct. 1, 1959, No. 33312/59. Class 20(3) A skylight comprises an outer dome member 1 of transparent methyl methacrylate having embedded at least in its central portion a reflective fabric 3 composed of opaque reflective areas and light transmitting areas, and an inner member 4, which may also be domed, of translucent polyester or epoxy resin, peripheral portions 2, 5 of the members being contiguously hermetically sealed and their body portions providing therebetween a dead air space. One dome member may have a continuous skirt 12, Fig. 3, to provide an increased light-receiving area and a skirt 2b on the outer dome may fit about and be sealed to the skirt on the inner dome. The gasketting material 67, Fig. 7, may be provided with intermittently spaced passages for draining away water from the outer dome. In another embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown) a continuous strip of plastic material partly overlaps and covers the juncture between the contiguous flanges the lower one of which projects beyond the upper one. Various ways of securing the light to the curb 8 are described. Specification 877,852 is referred to.
