Abstract

877,756. Cathode heaters. EDGERTON, GERMESHAUSEN & GRIER Inc. Dec. 22. 1959, No. 43578/59. Class 39(3). [Also in Group XL(a)] A cathode heater comprises a continuous planar strip of conductive material having successively disposed portions which are parallel to, but spaced from, one another and' lie in a common plane. The strip is covered throughout with an insulating coating, e.g. by spraying with atomized molten alumina. the ;heater, which may be cut from sheet molybdenum, may be of the forms shown, or may be of zig-zag form with a rectangular peripheral configuration or a single spiral. To obtain the desired electrical resistance the heater may be dipped in an acid solution. Specification 848,340 is referred to.
