Abstract
877,363. Cathode ray tubes. CORNING GLASS WORKS. Nov. 16, 1959 [Nov. 25, 1958], No. 38775/59. Class 39(1). A method of masking the glass face plate of a television picture reproducing tube comprises arranging a glass mask 13 Fig. 3 similarly shaped to the face plate, face down on a supporting surface, supporting the face plate within the mask cavity and spaced therefrom by spacers 15 and/or 16 and introducing a degassed catalyst activated plastic resin liquid into the space to fill it. Spacers 15, 16 may be cured pieces of the same resin as the filling. The resin is cured, after the filling step, the curing being accelerated by heating the face plate, mask and preferably also the resin. The resin has a refractive index the same as the glasses of face plate and mask. The resin may be an epoxy resin (100 parts) and the catalyst is cunine (61 parts). The, surfaces of the panel and mask are washed as a preliminary step with a 2-10% solution of trisodium phosphate and rinsed with similar strength sulphuric acid.
