Abstract
876,950. Reciprocating motors. SMIDTH & CO. AS., F. L. March 24, 1960, No. 10501/60. Class 35. An electromagnetic vibrator comprises two opposed E-shaped ferromagnetic cores 1 between which is suspended a longitudinally movable armature 8. The outer limbs 2, 2<SP>1</SP> and 3, 3<SP>1</SP> of the cores carry A.C. windings arranged to produce an alternating longitudinal flux through the armature, which induces current in a short-circuited winding comprising copper bars and side plates 9. This winding is disposed in a constant field between D.C. energized central limbs 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, so that longitudinal vibrations result. The armature is suspended from links 11 having rubber bushes 12 and carries X-shaped end plates 16 to which control springs 14 are adjustably attached. The magnitude of the vibrations is controlled by variation of the D.C. excitation.
